(RMBS) Rambus Wins $900Million from Samsung

Chip interface technology and architecture company Rambus Inc. (RMBS) has received an assurance from the largest semiconductor manufacturing company Samsung Electronics that the latter will resolve all claims of Rambus relating to the patent on its chip technology used by Samsung in its semiconductor products. Under the terms of the agreement, Rambus will get an amount of $900 million over a period of five years. The payment schedule is framed in such a way that Samsung will initially invest $200.0 million in Rambus stock, making another payment of $200.0 million and an additional $25.0 million per quarter thereafter for the next five years.
